‘Cult beauty product’, ‘editor’s favourite’, ‘hall of fame winner’. It seems like every product these days has some kind of title to help lure customers to it, but luckily for you ― we’ve picked the five that actually live up to their hype.

NARS Orgasm Blush

NARS’ Orgasm, as we last spoke about, is a classic cult favourite that propelled NARS Cosmetics into the spotlight. This universally-flattery pinky peach blush gives a subtle, natural glow, while its tiny gold specks illuminate the skin. Truly a unique colour that has launched a thousand copycats, this is one of the most ― if not only ― iconic blushes in the world.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer

This famous tub of yellow moisturizer sells every four seconds, and has been in every magazine award and hall of fame you can think of… especially mine. I’ve been lovingly rubbing the Oil-free version on my face twice daily for the past seven years, and will continue to. A simple, no-fuss moisturiser that does what it says: moisturise. While many moisturisers these days claim anti-aging properties and God-know-what, Clinique’s DDM is still leading the pack being simple and easy to use. No breakouts, no greasiness, no problem.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat

Originally created as an illuminator and sold every 20 seconds, this product soon became a cult favorite when everyone decided it was even better as a concealer. It will hide any redness, dark areas and even blemishes, and if you do use it for its original purpose, it brightens the eye area, the brow bone and gives cheekbones that incredible “glow”.

Maybelline Great Lash

Maybelline’s iconic Great Lash mascara reportedly sells every two seconds, which is certainly quite impressive. However, this is much to the confusion of many ― this is what they call a “hit or a miss”. Some cannot live without it while some cannot even believe its popularity. Whatever your take on it, I like it. In fact, I like it a lot. It is a simple, no fuss, every day mascara. Its inky formula gives tons of length and its deep colour (or ‘Blackest Black’ as they call it), leaves your lashes with a glossy finish. The spiral bristle brush takes some getting used to, but is amazing at separating lashes and preventing clumps.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

Nothing, and I mean nothing, can beat Shu Uemura’s eye lash curler. When I first heard about this must-have beauty tool, I immediately bought it and have never bought any other lash curler since. (I have tried many, though, and there is no competition ― this one is the best.) Thanks to its soft rubber lining, you won’t be tugging or crimping your lashes so much that they might snap off and break. Instead, this gives a light curl to your lashes that will last the whole day, granted that you apply mascara over it ― Maybelline’s Great Lash, perhaps?
