The organic and natural lifestyle is slowly making its way into Singapore, and I for one am very pleased, especially with their beauty offerings. Free from parabens, sulfates and harsh chemicals; they do you and your body a favour. Here are my top 5 picks for natural and organic beauty to meet your varied budgets and needs.
1. Sukin Botanical Body Wash, $11.95 from Watsons
A best seller at Watsons, this body wash is my absolute favourite, due to its amazing scent. Not only is the scent well loved, the wash contains soothing oils such as jojoba, rosehip and avocado oil to moisturise and cleanse the skin—minus the harsh chemicals and detergents that most shower gels have.
2. Dabur Vatika coconut hair oil, $3.50 from Mustafa
One of the best things you can ever do for dry, damaged hair is to give it some coconut oil. Coconut oil is the only oil that has been scientifically proven to penetrate the hair shaft—so it will work inside out. Other oils merely 'sit' on the surface of your hair. And the special formulated coconut oil of this product also contains henna to make your hair colour richer, with lemon to act as a sebum control for your scalp. I cannot vouch any more for this!
3. Revolution Organics Freedom Glow Beauty Balm, $40 from Poppibleu.com
A new discovery of mine, this Beauty Balm by Revolution Organics can be used as a cream blusher, eyeshadow or lip balm. Its thick, compact tube makes it so easy and convenient to use and the formula blends beautifully. The colour is what is impressive though—rich and pigmented, it lasts for hours, even in this humid weather.
4. Aubrey Organics Silken Earth Natural Translucent powder, $20.36 from iHerb.com
Another one of my favourite makeup products, this translucent powder will not only set your foundation, but will not allow even a glimmer of shine to escape your pores. This long-lasting powder gives a seriously flawless matte look, and since it’s translucent, can suit any skin tone. Just remember to blend, blend, blend so it doesn’t look too cakey.
5. Kai perfume oil, $80 from Luxola.com
There is no other product that has been such a hit with celebrities—everyone from Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Lauren Conrad to even Tommy Lee is said to be a fan of this cult scent. The perfect blend of gardenia with white lilies, the scent is soft, subtle and eau so fresh.
